Baltimore/Washington DC – Buses


Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority – operates the fifth largest bus network in the United States. The transit area includes the District of Columbia, the Maryland counties of Montgomery and Prince George’s. Transit in Northern Virginia includes the counties of Arlington, Fairfax and Loudoun and the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax and Falls Church.

Maryland transit Administration – operates more than 50 local Bus lines throughout Central Maryland. Many Bus lines connect with Light Rail, Metro Subway, MARC Train service and BWI.

Ride-On Montgomery – The system consists of 243 County owned and operated buses and 93 smaller contractor operated buses. Ride-on operates 80 routes and connects with all 12 Metrorail stations with in Montgomery County.

Howard Transit – operates scheduled bus services daily along fixed routes throughout Eastern Howard County including Ellicott City, Columbia, Clarksville, Annapolis Junction, North Laurel, Savage, Elkridge and other locations including BWI Airport.

Annapolis Transit – provides transit and commuter solutions through three shuttle routes and a fixed-route system comprised of eleven routes. The ADOT system links residents and visitors to the State’s capital with recreational areas, shopping centers, educational and medical facilities and employment hubs.

Arlington Transit – operates within Arlington County, Virginia, supplementing Metrobus with smaller, neighborhood-friendly vehicles and providing access to Metrorail and Virginia Railway Express (VRE).

Alexandria Dash – provides bus service within the City of Alexandria, and connects with Metrobus, Metrorail, Virginia Railway Express, and all local bus systems. DASH serves all of the Alexandria Metrorail Stations and the Pentagon Metrorail station during morning and evening peak periods.

Greyhound – The main terminal is located at 1005 First St, N.E., behind Union Station on Metrorail’s Red Line. It is about a 4-block walk because you must go completely around Union Station property to get there. Taxi service is also available at Union Station.
